Flower Girls “The Shop”

Μια αστική πρωτοβουλία για τα κενά καταστήματα του κέντρου της Αθήνας, το Traces of Commerce επιχείρησε την επαναφορά σε λειτουργία του στοάς Εμπόρων, ενός δημόσιου χώρου που είχε μείνει ανενεργός για περισσότερο από μία δεκαετία. Με σημείο εκκίνησης το δίπολο «παλιό–νέο εμπόριο», το project φιλοξένησε συλλογικότητες και δημιουργικές συνεργασίες που ενεργοποίησαν τα κενά καταστήματα μέσα από συμμετοχικά εργαστήρια, δράσεις και παραγωγικές συνέργειες με την τοπική κοινότητα.
Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, οι Flower Girls διατήρησαν για έξι μήνες το Flower Girls The Shop, ένα πειραματικό σημείο συνάντησης όπου υλοποίησαν εργαστήρια, performances και events, παντρεύοντας το στοιχείο του εμπορίου με την καλλιτεχνική και συλλογική πρακτική.

An urban initiative for the vacant storefronts of downtown Athens, Traces of Commerce sought to reactivate Stoa Emporon (Arcade of Merchants), a public passageway that had remained inactive for more than a decade. Starting from the dipole “old–new commerce,” the project hosted creative collectives and collaborations that transformed the empty shops into sites of participatory workshops, actions, and productive synergies with the local community.
Within this framework, the Flower Girls maintained for six months the Flower Girls The Shop, an experimental meeting point where they realized workshops, performances, and events, merging the notion of commerce with artistic and collective practice.
